It is soon approaching, the dreaded New Year Eve resolution and frenzied attempts to change habits and attitudes. However this year I decided to start in September when the Jewish calendar turns over. It seemed so much more appropriate with the tradition of repentance preceding a celebration of God and all He does for us. I thank those who have prompted interest in Jewish history and the feasts that God set for them to celebrate. This New Years Eve I will celebrate with an IHOP style prayer celebration. New Years day will be tuned into another webcast of a conference in Texas I have always wanted to attend. It is perfect, starting the year with my mind set on the direction I would have pursued after my YWAM School of Prayer.
I zigged when I should have zagged back then, but God is good and He uses everything for His glory, I am aware now of the things that get me sidetracked and as anyone who has walked with Jesus for awhile recognizes I am finding the tools, building the skills to stand against the wiley lies of the enemy. That means not only learning the word of God but learning how it applies, and where it needs to be applied. Sounds obvious to some, but when you are blind in an area well, it isn’t at all easy! All you know is that the same thing keeps happening in different ways with different people over and over and over again. That is why we need others and we need to face our weaknesses. We learn to ask for prayer and confess our issues before others so they are in the light. We have to be willing to recognize when we are stumped and don’t even know what to ask for. Transparency isn’t always easy, but God brings people into your life. Sometimes they are the most unexpected treasures, we can miss them if we don’t take care. So my encouragement is to look for the things you can be thankful for and let go of that which weighs you down. Turn your eyes to Jesus and look into His wonderful face, the things of earth grow strangely dim, in light of His glory and grace…
